William Knapp married Elizabeth Read, daughter of (?) Read and (?) Read, on 27 September 1584 at Bures, Suffolk, England. William Knapp died on 21 April 1627 at St. Mary's, Bures, Suffolk, England, at age 47.

     Elizabeth Read was born circa 1563 at Bures, Suffolk, England. She was the daughter of (?) Read and (?) Read. Elizabeth Read married William Knapp, son of John Knapp and Martha (Blosse) Blois, on 27 September 1584 at Bures, Suffolk, England. Elizabeth Read died on 8 July 1593 at Bures, Suffolk, England.

     John Knapp married Martha (Blosse) Blois, daughter of Thomas Blosse? and Joanne Canham?. John Knapp was born in 1536 at Stokes, Ipswich, Suffolk, England. He was the son of Robert Knappe and Margaret Poley. John Knapp died on 2 May 1604 at Ipswich, Suffolk, England.

     Martha (Blosse) Blois married John Knapp, son of Robert Knappe and Margaret Poley. Martha (Blosse) Blois died at Suffolk, England. She was born in 1540 at Grundisburgh, Suffolk, England. She was the daughter of Thomas Blosse? and Joanne Canham?.

     Margaret Poley married Robert Knappe, son of (?) Knapp and Jyllian (?). Margaret Poley was born in 1531 at Badley, Suffolk, England. She was the daughter of Edmund Poley and Mirabell Garneis. Margaret Poley died circa 1539 at Barking, Suffolk, England.

     Edmund Poley was born in 1486 at Badley, Suffolk, England. He was the son of Henry Poley and Constance Geddinge. Edmund Poley married Mirabell Garneis, daughter of John Garneys and Elizabeth Sulyard, circa 1510 at Kenton, Suffolk, England. Edmund Poley died on 31 December 1548 at Badley, Suffolk, England.

     Mirabell Garneis was born circa 1493 at Kenton, Suffolk, England. She was the daughter of John Garneys and Elizabeth Sulyard. Mirabell Garneis married Edmund Poley, son of Henry Poley and Constance Geddinge, circa 1510 at Kenton, Suffolk, England. Mirabell Garneis died on 25 February 1557/58 at Badley, Suffolk, England.

     Thomas Blosse? married Joanne Canham?. Thomas Blosse? was born circa 1539 at Grundisburgh, Suffolk, England.

Mr. John Scales of Dover, N.H. says William came from England in 1633.

William Thompson received a grant of land in Dover in 1656, which was laid out 17 March 1658-9, "beyond Cochecho log swamp." Nov. 8, 1715, John
Thompson, Senior, of Dover, conveyed to John Tuttle fifty acres which "were granted to my father William Thompson by the town of Dover." It lay "beyond Cocheco Logg Swamp," bounded on the south with Bellamy Bank River. There is no evidence that William Thompson ever lived on this grant. Oct. 15, 1656, a grant made to John White in 1651 was assigned to William Thompson. It was in Kittery a short way below the mouth of Sturgeon Creek. Several indications suggest that he had married a daughter of John White. In 1659 William Thompson was presented at York Court "for rebellion against his father and mother-in-law," and he bound himself to the Court in a bond of twenty pounds "that hee will be of good behavior towards all men, especially toward his father and mother." (State copy of Court Records Vol. 1, p. 331.) He died in 1676 and his estate was appraised, June 22, of that year, at 52 pounds, 18 shillings. He left 23 acres, a house and orchard in Kittery and 50 acres in Dover, which he gave to sons William and Robert and to John White. His wife probably died before 1676.

Vol. 3, 108 says Wm. was first Thompson on record to be in America. Arrived between 1635 and 1656, from England. He was born before 1633; arrived America from England in 1633.² He was the son of Robert Thompson. There is a tradition that Robert Thompson was the emigrant ancestor of the Thompsons of Durham, N.H. It may have been the one who witnessed a deed in 1652. Thompson's Point, just south of the mouth of the Cochecho River, was so called as early as 1644 and probably in 1635. Thompson's Point House was taxed in Dover in 1648. The name of the owner is not given. Perhaps he died. William Thompson appears soon after.

     Michael Endle was born circa 1592 at Stoke-In-Teignhead, Devon, England. He married Wilmot Browne, daughter of Christopher Browne, on 26 January 1616/17 at Stoke-In-Teignhead, Devon, England.

     Thomas Turpin married Agnes Turpin. Thomas Turpin was born circa 1607. He died in 1647.

     Agnes Turpin married Thomas Turpin. Agnes Turpin was born circa 1616.

     John White Taken from "OLD KITTERY AND HER FAMILIES"

John White was in Kittery as early as 1640. He had wife Lucy in 1670. William Frye calls Francis Allen his "cousin". See York Deeds, VII. 107. This usually means nephew, but in this case I can only explain it as meaning cousin in the recent sense of that word, and this could be only by the assumption that Adrian Frye married Sarah, daughter of John White.

Nov. 7, 1665, Dr. Roads was presented at court for living in a suspicious manner at John White's house. This is the earliest mention of any doctor in what is now Eliot. Thomas Rhodes appears a little later, but there is no evidence that he was a physician.

John White, probably son of the above, is mentioned in court records in 1710. He married Lucy (?). John White was born between 1604 and 1609.¹

     Wilmot Browne was born in 1596 at England. She was the daughter of Christopher Browne. Wilmot Browne married Michael Endle on 26 January 1616/17 at Stoke-In-Teignhead, Devon, England.

     Christopher Browne was born in 1570 at England.

     Samuel Baker was born on 12 June 1701 at Marshfield, Plymouth, Massachusetts.¹ He was the son of Samuel Baker and Sarah Snow. Samuel Baker was baptized on 8 July 1722.² He died before 19 September 1751 at North Yarmouth, Cumberland, Maine.
