     William Hampton Dowling Sr. was born in 1780 at Jeffries Creek, SC. He was the son of James Dowling R.S. and Mary 'Polly' Boutwell. William Hampton Dowling Sr. married Elizabeth Sarah Watson between 1794 and 1800; Wm. H. & Eliza. Dowling had a son between the ages of 10 and 16 in the 1810 Census.² William Hampton Dowling Sr. died between 1830 and 1840 at Florida; Probably died in North Florida before the 1840 Census. They were enumerated in the 1830 Census in Leon County.³

     Willis H. Dowling was born between 1790 and 1797; Born after 1790 Census and before father's death in 1797.¹ He was the son of James Dowling R.S. and Mary 'Polly' Boutwell. Willis H. Dowling married Nancy Cook, daughter of Ephraim Cook, before 1815; Probably married in Beaufort District of SC.¹

     William Dowling R.S. was the son of Michael Dowling and Mary ?.¹ William Dowling R.S. DFS Notes: Wm. in SC by Summer 1770 (Two years before father Robert came there) SC Land Grant to William in 1771 - 60 acres on Flat Creek in Craven Co. (Adjoining owners William Breton and a widow Gibson) Paid King's 'quit Rent' in Jan. 1774 in area now part of Darlington County. 1775 moved 100 mi SW to Orangeburg District and purchased 100 acre tract on the Little Salkehatchee at Cyprus Pond from one Thomas Ford. Near present-day Bamberg, SC. Fought with 'Swampfox' Francis Marion at hopeless defense of Charleston and afterwards. Died about 1782 Caught at home in 1780's by Tories and shot dead while young (12 year-old son Jabez watched.² He and Robert Dowling R.S. The book The “Dowling Family – Their Ancestors and Descendants” provides evidence that David Dowling, Robert Dowling RS and William Dowling RS were brothers and the sons of Michael Dowling and Mary . There was another Robert Dowling that was born in Augusta Co. VA who was listed in court documents in that same county at the same time that Robert Dowling RS was in South Carolina. It is probable that “A Dowling Family of the South” (DFS) got these two Roberts mixed up. This also makes the claim in DFS that William was the son of Robert (RS) unlikely.¹ William Dowling R.S. was born in 1746.³ He married Rebecca Walker, daughter of Nathaniel Walker and Marian (?), circa 1767 at VA.^2,1 William Dowling R.S. died circa 1782 at Bamberg, SC.^4,5

     Elijah Dowling was born in 1778 at South Carolina. He was the son of William Dowling R.S. and Rebecca Walker. Elijah Dowling married Elizabeth Rice, daughter of Aaron Rice Sr. and Elender Rhoden, circa 1796; Elijah Dowling was married by the time he was eighteen.¹

      Cageby Dowling was also known as Micajah Dowling.¹ He married Sarah (?).¹ Cageby Dowling was born circa 1780.¹ He was the son of William Dowling R.S. and Rebecca Walker.

     Rev. Dempsey Dowling was born on 14 December 1783 at Jefferies Creek, South Carolina.¹ He was the son of John Dowling Sr. R.S. and Nancy Boutwell. Rev. Dempsey Dowling married Martha Stokes.²

     Elias Dowling married Mary (?).^1,2 Elias Dowling was born in 1787 at South Carolina.² He was the son of John Dowling Sr. R.S. and Nancy Boutwell. Elias Dowling married Elizabeth Steward on 31 March 1857.¹ Elias Dowling died on 15 January 1865 at Barbour, Alabama.²

     Lydia Ann Dowling was born in 1789 at South Carolina.¹ She was the daughter of John Dowling Sr. R.S. and Nancy Boutwell. As of 1840,her married name was Stokes.¹ Lydia Ann Dowling married John Stokes in 1840 at Daleville, Alabama.¹

     Rev. Zacheus Dowling was born on 29 July 1792 at Jerreries Creek, South Carolina.¹ He was the son of John Dowling Sr. R.S. and Nancy Boutwell. Rev. Zacheus Dowling died on 19 June 1885 at Florida at age 92.¹

     Allen Dowling was born on 10 February 1795 at South Carolina.¹ He was the son of John Dowling Sr. R.S. and Nancy Boutwell. Allen Dowling died on 8 April 1873 at age 78.¹

     Her married name was Stokes.¹ Rhoda Dowling married Henry Stokes.¹ Rhoda Dowling was born in 1797 at South Carolina.¹ She was the daughter of John Dowling Sr. R.S. and Nancy Boutwell.

     Simeon Dowling was born circa 1799 at Darlington, South Carolina.¹ He was the son of John Dowling Sr. R.S. and Nancy Boutwell. Simeon Dowling and Rev. Levi Dowling DFS page 80 states that Simeon and Levi were possibly twin brothers in 1800.² Simeon Dowling Died Single. He died between 1824 and 1826 at Darlington, South Carolina.¹

     Jemima Dowling was born on 1 March 1807 at South Carolina.¹ She was the daughter of John Dowling Sr. R.S. and Nancy Boutwell. As of August 1824,her married name was Hildreth.¹ Jemima Dowling married Benjamin Hildreth in August 1824 at South Carolina.¹

     Her married name was Croft.¹ Rennie Dowling married William Croft.¹ Rennie Dowling was born on 19 January 1816.² She was the daughter of John Jabez Dowling and Susan Barnes.

     William Mattison Dowling was born on 24 August 1818.¹ He was the son of John Jabez Dowling and Susan Barnes. William Mattison Dowling married Elizabeth Harrington on 14 December 1838.²

     Her married name was Harriett.¹ Hester Ann Dowling married John Harriett.¹ Hester Ann Dowling was christened on 22 March 1821.² She was the daughter of John Jabez Dowling and Susan Barnes.

     John Jefferson Dowling was born on 9 June 1823.¹ He was the son of John Jabez Dowling and Susan Barnes. John Jefferson Dowling witnessed the Milt-Note of an unknown person circa 1862; Served in the Confederate Cavalry of the South Carolina Squadron commanded by Kirk.¹ He died circa 1899; Never Married.¹ He was buried at Dowling Cemetery, Brunson, South Carolina; Dowling Cemetery is described as being two miles north of Brunson, S.C.¹

     Elbert Ligah Dowling was born on 3 July 1825.¹ He was the son of John Jabez Dowling and Susan Barnes. Elbert Ligah Dowling married Ann Harriett.² Elbert Ligah Dowling died on 12 April 1880 at age 54.¹

     Julia Dowling was born on 11 December 1828.¹ She was the daughter of John Jabez Dowling and Susan Barnes. Julia Dowling married Humphrey Moore.² Julia Dowling married J. H. Cope.² Julia Dowling Never had any children.¹

     Mary Dowling was born on 8 July 1831.¹ She was the daughter of John Jabez Dowling and Susan Barnes. Mary Dowling married Mike Freeman.² Mary Dowling was buried at Rivers Cemetery, Brunson, South Carolina.¹

     Oliver Perry Dowling was born on 27 December 1833.¹ He was the son of John Jabez Dowling and Susan Barnes. Oliver Perry Dowling married Josephine Prescott.² Oliver Perry Dowling married Henrietta Googe, daughter of Rev. William Googe, circa 1869.² Oliver Perry Dowling died on 15 February 1885 at age 51.³ He was buried after 15 February 1885 at Dowling Cemetery, Brunson, South Carolina; Buried next to wife Henrietta.³

     Eliza Jane Dowling was born on 23 May 1836.¹ She was the daughter of John Jabez Dowling and Susan Barnes. Eliza Jane Dowling died circa 1881; Died without marrying.² She was buried at Dowling Cemetery, Brunson, South Carolina.¹

     Cameron Leroy Dowling married Lois Duncan. Cameron Leroy Dowling was born on 7 February 1894 at Varnville, South Carolina; from WW1 Draft card. He was the son of Decanie Dexter Dowling and Mary Margaret Thames.

      James Frankling Dowling was also known as Frank Dowling was called Uncle Frank by nephew Walter D. Wood.¹ He was born on 16 March 1881; from WW-I Draft registration. He was the son of Decanie Dexter Dowling and Mary Margaret Thames. James Frankling Dowling married Rosena Youmans before 12 September 1918; from WW-I draft reqistration. James Frankling Dowling lived on 12 September 1918 at Fairfax, Barnwell, South Carolina; from WW-I draft registration. He was self employed in mfg and sales of soft drinks

Tuten in 1902; 13 years old when married and Edna was born. Ida Mae Dowling appeared on the census of 25 April 1910 in the household of Joe W. Tuten at Goethe Township, Hampton, South Carolina.¹

      Edna Lenora 'Nonie' Dowling also went by the name of Nonie. She was born on 14 March 1891 at South Carolina. She was the daughter of Decanie Dexter Dowling and Mary Margaret Thames. As of after 1900,her married name was Mixson.¹ Edna Lenora 'Nonie' Dowling married Mack C. Mixson circa 1910 at South Carolina.¹
