Leannah Susannah Utter was a witness William Buchanan died in 1805. He was married in 1789 to Jane Abrams, and had a family of four children, Enoch, James, Margaret, and Jane. Both the sons moved to Illinois before 1836. Margaret married John Wood, and Jane became the wife of Samuel Richards. The widow Buchanan maintained that relation six years, when she married Absalom Wood, being twelve years his senior. She died in 1854, aged eighty. Four years, and for the last fifty years of her life had lived on the Joseph Barkley place. The original Buchanan farm is now occupied by J. R. Brown, at the Calvary meeting-house. The widow Buchanan was the possessor of more than ordinary courage, and well calculated to endure the hardships through which she passed as the first woman in Washington, if not, indeed, in the county. In 1801, in the company of her brother and others, she made a trip to her old home in Pennsylvania, going up the Ohio in a small boat, doing the cooking for the men as they landed, and completing the remainder of the journey from Pittsburgh on horseback. By her marriage with Absalom Wood she had three children,-Florella C., who married Joseph Barkley, and died on the homestead; John H., who married Mary Barkely, and yet resides in the township near Neville; and William H., who married a daughter of Dowty Utter and died in Washington in the fall of 1879. with William Buchanan in 1805 at Washington Township, Clermont, Ohio, USA.3 As of 26 March 1846,her married name was Wood.1

Mr. Turner started in life without means, but by hard work he became well-to-do; he was a good business manager, a good neighbor, and always ready to help the sick and dying all that lay in his power. Of the wife no one could speak too highly in praise; her life was regarded as a well-nigh perfect one; among the sick and dying she was of strongest help, for seven days and nights she waited on a sick orphan girl, who was an entire stranger to her, with the most loving care; Mrs. Fred Morgan, who had lived beside her for twenty years, declared that she had never seen a woman like her for helpfulness; she was one of the finest spinners, and in the fall before she died she spun twenty-four cuts of long reeled yarn as a days 's work; she was a good weaver."13 She joined the church in November 1832 at Bethel, Clermont, Ohio, USA.14

Turner of the County of Clermont state of Ohio bring admonished by declining health and increasing infirmities of the great uncertainty of life and the absolute certainty of death in the near future deem it my duty to make such disposition of my worldly effects as seems to me to be both just and equitable, ere I pass to that land of rest beyond the mystic river, do make and publish this as my last will and Testament.
Item 1st I give and bequeath to the children and heirs of my beloved daughters Melissa J. McMurchey deceased, the farm now owned by me being part of Straus Survey No. 2938 and bounded as follows on the North by the Georgetown and Bethel Turnpike - on the west by lands of L. T. Pool - on the south by lands of Lur Wilson and on the East by land of W C. McMurchey containing 83 acres more or less.
Item 2nd I give and devise to my wife Keziah C. Turner Two hundred dollars (say $200.00) in cash out of any funds in the hands of my Executor hereinafter appointed.
Item 3rd I order and direct that my said Executor sell the residue of my property both real and personal either at public or private sale as he may deem best and out of the proceeds thereof pay all my just debts and expenses. After which he is directed to pay Lucy A. Wood and Laura E. Day Two hundred dollars ($200.00) each at that He distribute the residue remaining in his hands one half each to the heirs of Lucy A. Wood and one half to Laura E. Day. I hereby direct that said executor retain in his hands the funds belonging to the heirs of the aforsaid Lucy A. Wood and Laura E. Day until they arrive at the age of maturity.
Item 4th I nominate constitute and appoint Henry H. Day Executor of this my last will and testament. Hereby revoking all former wills made by me.

This family lived on a farm two and one-half miles south of Bethel, Ohio, on the Cincinnati Pike; this was sold to Mr. Poole and a farm purchased on the same road in Brown County, three and one-half miles east of Bethel, Ohio, of 213 acres, to which forty acres of timber land were added. Mr. Turner started in life without means, but by hard work he became well-to-do; he was a good business manager, a good neighbor, and always ready to help the sick and dying all that lay in his power.13 He FamilySearch ID # LHPW-H3J.

As religion had always played an important role in Lucy Ann's life, on June 12, 1892 as soon as the family was settled in their new home, she and her daughter Mary together with sons Carl and Walter joined the Union Church (Church of Christ) at Science Hill, KY, by letter from Bethel (OH) Christian Church. Frank, the eldest son, did not join until August 23, 1893, shocked into full awareness of his own mortality by his father's sudden death on May 30, 1893 at the age of 44 years, and perhaps already thinking ahead to his marriage with neighbor, Emma Ivens. Frank and Emma Wood were dismissed by letter September 8, 1894. Mary L. (Wood) McGriff, wife of Francis Brady McGriff, was dismissed by letter October 12, 1908.12
