     He Had will dated 7/30/1806 and probated May 1816. Isaac Day was a witness. Fought in the Revolutionary war. Moved from Baltimore Cty. Md. to Ky., arriving early in 1797.1 He was a witness EDWARD POE's 1st wife was MARTHA BRITTAIN the mother of his first 4 known children. She was the daughter of JOHN BRITTAIN and ELIZABETH STILLWELL. JOHN BRITTAIN had moved from Shrewbury, NJ over to Bucks Co., PA. Edward and Martha were married in 1755 in Plumstead Twp., Bucks Co, Pennsylvania.

About 1770, Edward and Martha relocated with their four children in the Shenendoah Valley of Virginia -- the precise location isn't known. It is apparently there that Martha (Brittain) Poe died there shortly before the American Revolution. Edward Poe had served bravely during the Revolution. Edward did not remarry until after the war. His 2nd wife was Catharine.

After living in Maryland for some time, he moved to Bracken County, Kentucky. Three of Edward and Martha's sons (Joseph, John and Patrick) were already living there by 1799. with Martha Brittain.4
